Oil producers to demand ban on soybeans export

The major stakeholders in the soybeans productivity have agreed to advise Federal Government ( FG) to place a ban on soybeans export.

This was agreed upon yesterday at the stakeholders meeting convened by the Federal Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment ( FMITI) headed by the Director, Commodities and Export Department Mr. Kaura Irimiya.

One of the attendees of the meeting, the former President, National Palm Produce Association of Nigeria, Engr. Henry Olatujoye lamented on no data availability on production of soybeans from the mandated authority who claimed to be giving inputs yearly to farmers it couldn't give record of yearly production.

Olatujoye said the stakeholders at the meeting observed low soybeans production in the country, pointed that they discouraged the idea of exports of soybean grains, but encouraged the export of processed soybeans derivatives rather than the grains.

  1. Great strides, let's add value to our commodities before export Same should be done for groundnuts, sesame, cashew nuts and cotton seeds
