GMO: Nigerian farmers speak, demand for seeds availability





 The much criticisms against Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) using science of Biotechnology (Bt) engineering to enhance agricultural production in Nigeria seems not to have any negative impact on farmers who are the end users of these improved modified seeds for food cultivations. Food Farm News recent visit to some farm locations where especially the Bt cowpea are planted with high dividend of economic returns have revealed this.

An Award to a Performer, A Reflection on Ogun Agriculture






Only did we know that an award of excellent performance as the (Best Governor) of the year in Agriculture was on the way for His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun when our editorial titled ‘ Agriculture: The need for Southwest Government to wake up’’ alluded to the positive direction the Ogun State government was already tolling to change the narrative, especially in the outgoing year that is generally believed to be ridden with food insecurity and turbulences occasioned by Covid-19 pandemic, climate change challenges and insecurity generally.

IITA improved cassava cuttings gets AfDB, AGRA, PIND support


The Building an Economically Sustainable and Integrated Cassava Seeds System phase 2 project (BASICS-2) of International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) meant to enhance transferring of improved cassava cuttings to farmers in Nigeria and Tanzania has received a support from African Development Bank (AfDB), Alliance Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) and the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND Foundation) that will enhance its sustainability.

Ogun commences 2020 planting, provides 3,500 farmers with CBN fund

Ogun state Government has officially commenced planting for the year 2020 with distribution of  cassava cuttings to the first batch of beneficiaries just as about  3,500 nominees have benefited in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Anchor Borrowers Programme (ABP) of  fund and inputs. These are part of the activities that took place yesterday at the flag off of 2020 planting season by the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun in Asoro, Abeokuta.
