Cocoa competitiveness: Stakeholders want Increased Consumption in Nigeria


Stakeholders in the value chain of cocoa productivity have suggested the need to encourage local consumptions in order to make the price of the agricultural produce more competitive in the global market being an essential ingredient in the confectionary, food &beverage, pharmaceutical and cosmetic.

Cocoa: FG approves plan, stakeholders set for commission bill


The Federal ExecutiveCouncil  (FEC) under the former President Mohamadu Buhari has approved a ten (10) year plan for the development of cocoa production in such a way to reflect what is obtainable in other neighboring countries. Meanwhile a proposal has also been put in place by the stakeholders for a bill that will see to the extablishment of a cocoa commission in Nigeria.

President asks C/River Governor to stop cocoa, other regulation

*  Says Government agency should be last resort buyer 

The President, Federation of Agricultural Commodity Association of Nigeria (FACAN), Dr. Victor Iyama has asked the Governor of Cross Rivers State, Prof. Ben Ayade to discontinue the pursuit of cocoa and other agricultural produce regulation through an obnoxious law, saying it is economically retrogressive to farmers and other stakeholders at the value chains of productivity.

No official indication to Nigeria cocoa rejection by EU

Cocoa: FG earns N135B despite Covid-19 pandemic




Despite the bottlenecks created by the COVID-19 pandemic last year, the cocoa sector has earned the country a sum of 135 Billion Naira from export into the international market, said the Executive Director (ED) Cocoa Research Institute (CRIN) Dr. Patrick Adebola.
