Cocoa: FG gives farmers One Million Climate Smart Seedlings

 

The Federal Government (FG) has started the distribution of one million improved hybrid cocoa seedlings to farmers across the fourteen states of the Federation.

The former president, Cocoa Association of Nigeria ( CAN) and presently the chairman, Board of Trustee ( BOT), Dr. Victor Iyama has commended the Federal Government (FG) for not heeding to the calls that farmers' produce should be determined by cocoa board. 

College of Agriculture, Kabba Commissions New Cocoa Plantation Project

In a landmark event aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture and economic tree revival, the College of Agriculture, Kabba, under the Division of Agricultural Colleges, Ahmadu Bello University, officially commissioned a new cocoa plantation on Friday, 27th June, 2025.

Cocoa: FG approves plan, stakeholders set for commission bill

The Federal ExecutiveCouncil  (FEC) under the former President Mohamadu Buhari has approved a ten (10) year plan for the development of cocoa production in such a way to reflect what is obtainable in other neighboring countries. Meanwhile a proposal has also been put in place by the stakeholders for a bill that will see to the extablishment of a cocoa commission in Nigeria.

The President, Federation of Agricultural Commodity Association of Nigeria (FACAN), Dr. Victor Iyama has asked the Governor of Cross Rivers State, Prof. Ben Ayade to discontinue the pursuit of cocoa and other agricultural produce regulation through an obnoxious law, saying it is economically retrogressive to farmers and other stakeholders at the value chains of productivity.

No official indication to Nigeria cocoa rejection by EU

There is no official letter that can be attributed to the threat order on Nigerian cocoa produce being said to be sanctioned for rejection in the European markets against next year, Food Farm News findings revealed.

Cocoa: FG earns N135B despite Covid-19 pandemic

Despite the bottlenecks created by the COVID-19 pandemic last year, the cocoa sector has earned the country a sum of 135 Billion Naira from export into the international market, said the Executive Director (ED) Cocoa Research Institute (CRIN) Dr. Patrick Adebola.
