The Executive Secretary ( ES) Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria ( ARCN) Prof. Garba Sharubutu has suggested partnership between his organization, commodities' Association and core agricultural correspondents saying the accord will enhance transfer of accurate information about weather forecast and improved technologies availability to farmers in the country.
Prof. Sharubutu said this during a briefing with the Agricultural Correspondents Association of Nigeria ( ACAN) in Abuja last week Friday.
Sharubutu advised the commodity Associations to see agriculture beyond financial allocations, saying the need to prioritize dissemination of available improved technologies and weather related farming practice among their members who are farmers as necessary strategy to achieve pumper food harvest.
Towards achieving this, the ARCN ES therefore proposes a collaborative meeting with commodity associations, research council and ACAN so as to achieve a better strategy on how each entity can contribute to the education and empowerment of farmers with best agronomics practices cum improved technologies and climate smart farming information for sustainable food system.
Sharubutu underscored the significance of fostering a stronger alliance between farmers, commodity associations and meteorological units saying it is a great avenue to ensure factual information about best agricultural practices that is not politically motivated towards food security.
