NAQS Intensifies Efforts to Prevent Rejection of Nigerian Products in EU Countries

The Nigerian Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) is stepping up its efforts to strictly adhere to European Union (EU) regulations for exporting products, aiming to prevent the rejection of Nigerian agricultural products in EU nations.

This initiative coincides with the promotion of 100 officers to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Quarantine (ASQ) to enhance efficiency in duty delivery.

Dr. Godwin Sunday Audu, the Acting Comptroller General of NAQS, unveiled this strategy during his inaugural meeting with Station and Zonal Coordinators at the Headquarters in Abuja.

Dr. Audu urged officers to strictly follow the agency's founding legislation and acquaint themselves with international best practices to streamline business operations.

He underscored the importance of prioritizing human capital development under his leadership and encouraged staff to redouble their efforts in repositioning the agency to better serve stakeholders.

"The promotion aims to bolster workers' morale," he remarked, pledging to address challenges faced by various zones regarding infrastructure and operational tools to enhance working conditions.

Dr. Audu emphasized the significance of fostering stronger relationships with sister agencies and stakeholders, urging Zonal and Station Coordinators to embrace unity. Additionally, he announced the establishment of the Operations and Enforcement Department within the agency, tasked with overseeing smooth operations, minimizing unnecessary seizures, and ensuring judicious enforcement of seizures.

He reassured stakeholders of the agency's commitment to promoting ease of doing business and facilitating trade, aligning with the government's "Renewed Hope" Agenda for the country's benefit.
