The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural
Development have entered into a memorandum of agreement with Sasakawa
Africa Association to scale up its activities in all states of the
federation.
This was revealed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Shehu Ahmed while delivering a speech at the Sasakawa Africa Association 2016 Annual Review and Planning Workshop held at the National Agricultural Extension Research and Liaison Services, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.
Ahmed, who was represented by Mr. Francis Nwachukwu, a Director at the ministry said the activities will begin with 6 states- one from each of the six geo-political zones of the country. He added that there are plans to extend the activities to six more states.
Nwachukwu also commended the association for the workshop stating that it will contribute to the actualization of the current efforts of the present government to re-engineer the agricultural sector of the nation and move forward the diversification of the economy.
Also speaking at the workshop was the Sasakawa Africa Association’s Country Director, Dr. Sani Dikko. For Dikko, the workshop was germane in finding solution to problems affecting farmers with the view of supporting productivity in their activities
