The survival of the struggle for localization and the
patronage of made in Nigeria goods will soon get a boost with the
backing of a government policy framework which is underway .
This was the view shared by the President, Manufacturers Association Of Nigeria, Dr. Frank Jacobs while addressing newsmen at the 3rd Annual mPAD & Nigeria Manufacturing Expo which took place at the Landmark Centre,Lagos recently.
According to him, the apathy that has trailed the interest on goods manufactured in the country has to go.
”Our engagement with government seems to show that there is a mode change in government today as regards made in Nigeria products.

”Our engagement with government seems to show that there is a mode change in government today as regards made in Nigeria products.
We made
them(government)know that they are the biggest spender and whatever
direction they follow is the direction the rest of the country will
follow in terms of demand”.
“They have hinted us through some key members that a policy is coming
out soon that will emphasize the buying of made in Nigeria goods at all
levels of government from the Federal down to the ward levels. When
that is done the low patronage that trails made-in-Nigeria goods will
become a thing of the past”.
Also reacting, an invited guest at the event and the Director of Trade, Federal Ministry of Industry,Trade & Investment, Mrs Omotara Awobokun urged Nigerians to develop the likeness for made in Nigeria goods from a patriotic perspective and rely less on the government to spearhead the revolution.
“We do not need the government to tell us that we need to support our own before buying made in Nigeria products. Am sure we have children who are looking for jobs. Am also sure we know about insurgency. These are issues that need all hands on deck to curtail. So our service to the nation should include this little support to the manufacturing end.”
The three day event which also featured paper presentations, networking, business training and exhibition by stakeholders was driven with a mandate to revive the interest of Nigerians on localization. This on the long run would boost the economic potentials of the country. It had a consensus of unveiling a revolution plan to take the country to the world by unveiling its huge potentials.
