With a successful maiden edition of ‘Agrofood & Plastprintpack Nigeria exhibition in 2015, Fairtrade Messe’s Managing Director, Mr. Martin März, speaks on the plans for a better second edition billed to hold in April this year.

Fairtrade Messe successfully hosted ‘Agrofood & Plastprintpack Nigeria 2015’. What made you start this exhibition?
At Fairtrade, we are specialized in creating professional meeting platforms for the agrofood and plastpack industry ever since 1991. This has been for 25 years now. Our largest one is Iran agrofood in Tehran, Iran with more than 1,300 exhibitors and 40,000 visitors this year. We also organize Plast & Printpack Alger in Algeria, Agrofood & Plastpack West Africa in Ghana and Ethiopia Agrofood & Plastpack in Addis.

Nigeria’s agriculture and packing sectors have been facing series of challenges. How can ‘Agrofood & Plastprintpack Nigeria’ render help in this regard?
Agrofood & Plastprintpack Nigeria is all about technological exchange and cooperation between Nigerian food and drink producers and international specialists for food ingredients and food and packaging technology. The exchange supports the Nigerian agrofood industry to meet its challenges in terms of food hygiene, food safety, cost efficiency and creating greater diversity of food and beverage products.

What are your expectations for the 2nd edition of Agrofood & Plastprintpack Nigeria’ billed to come up in April this year?
This year’s edition is billed to take place at Landmark Centre, Lagos between 26th to 28th April.  Agrofood & Plastprintpack Nigeria will have a huge participation. Over 70 leading exhibitors from not less than 21 countries will showcase their latest technologies. In addition, there will be French and a German live bakery demonstrating how to create delicate croissants and other sweets and snacks. This will be the crowning of the three-day seminar on food and drink technology.
