Cow |
I am a cow, yes,but trust me , if we had a union, we
would have carried placards to the streets to protest that people who
are supposed to enjoy us as source of protein are being killed by our
masters because of us.
If you look at my picture closely, I am not smiling because my brothers and sisters in Nigeria have become a source of communal wars and clashes.
I am tied to this stake because I voiced out my mind. For this, my master tied me here.We are not happy because they are working too much and starving owing to the climate change effect and urbanization which are taking up graze-lands.Herdsmen who we have seen as our masters for generations, take us to farmlands to feed and because we do not know the difference between food crops and grass, we eat up farmlands of innocent farmers.
We have made negative headlines on cattle rustling which has not gone down well with my fellow cows in Nigeria.
We have not complained even though it hurts.Even as a cow, i know that on several occasions we see these humans plant something into the ground and they grow. This makes me know that the crops are not the regular grass we feed on and so i feel reluctant to enter the fence and eat them.
One day, I had refused to feed on a maize farm that I watched one human nurse with keen interest. What I got was a bit stick on my bump by my master. You never knew what went on in my head.
Look,I felt very bad as our group of over two hundred fellow cows ate up the farmland of maize and this innocent human was killed by our master . Because we were cows , he didn’t know I was actually crying and had regrets running through my heart….
So many people have lost their lives in thousands because our masters force us to eat up peoples crops even though we know they are not grasses.
As loyal servants who are mandated to provide meat, milk , fat and so many things for you humans, but we obey and hungrily eat these crops up.
On so many occasions, we have been killed because we ate up peoples crops.I even had one of my brother’s legs cut.
I write this letter to you reader because we heard a rumor that among you humans , there is a plan to make us stop walking for kilometers .We got a gist that grass will be grown to feed us .Please if its true, support that plan to make it work. Our welfare is not at its best.We don’t want this country to keep counting human losses because of us.
You will be seeing letters from me but the letter never comes again, I may have become one of the chunks of meat being grilled by that barbecue man in that party you are planning to attend or as suya sold near your office or in the market. But do not forget, support the plan to stop this menace.
Thank you

CONCERNED COWS AGAINST RUSTLING
This article is dedicated to thousands rendered homeless and to those who lost their lives from cattle rustling clashes especially in Agatu,Benue State.
Please support the plans by the Ministry of Agriculture to grow grasses to feed cows. This is a worthy plan to end cattle rustling and related violence in Nigeria.
Lets grow agriculture in Nigeria and we would marvel at the benefits.
