The Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) has announced plans to extend its agricultural innovations and technology to two states in Nigeria, namely Oyo and Ogun in the South West.
The Country Representative of AGRA, Dr. Rufus Idris disclosed this while speaking during the last Council meeting in Kaduna state where he noted that the expansion is aimed at helping Nigeria scale up its food production and sustainability being a major agricultural powerhouse on the continent.
Dr. Idris said that the planned support will focus on improving productivity across key value chains through enhanced access to quality inputs, modern farming practices, and strengthening of market linkages for farmers in the two states.
According to him "Nigeria has a critical role to play as Africa’s big brother in food production"
He added that AGRA’s interventions would be implemented in collaboration with state governments and relevant stakeholders to ensure sustainability, increased farmer incomes, and resilience within the agricultural sector.
