Wheat: Why FG decline another council

The chairman of the apex council body on agriculture and food security, Sen. Abubakar Kyari, has said the government will not duplicate the Lake Chad Research Institute ( LCRI) to avoid double allocations for one crop.

Sen. Abubarka Kyari, at the last council meeting he chaired last November, said that no other institutional structure would be created other than the already created LCRI, which had got sufficient support for wheat development.

Kyari said further that the creation of another national wheat council wasn't necessary in view of the already existing LCRI with sufficient support for the crop development.

The wheat council memo was presented for approval by the LCRI at the last November Agric decision-making body, chaired by the Agric Minister, Sen. Abubakar Kyari.
