NAQS and OGFZA Join Forces to Boost Trade

The Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) and the Nigeria Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA) have forged a collaborative partnership aimed at enhancing trade facilitation and safeguarding the country's agricultural economy.

The decision to collaborate follows a high-level meeting between Dr. Godwin Sunday Audu, the Acting Comptroller General of NAQS, and Mr. Bamanga Usman Jada, the Managing Director of OGFZA, along with their respective teams at the NAQS Headquarters in Abuja. This move underscores efforts to strengthen cooperation between the two agencies.

Dr. Audu reaffirmed NAQS's steadfast commitment to fostering trade and protecting Nigeria's agricultural economy while adhering to global phytosanitary standards. He reiterated NAQS's readiness to assist exporters in meeting these standards, ensuring a smooth process for those who comply with regulatory requirements.

"In our pursuit of economic growth and agricultural prosperity, NAQS remains resolute in promoting trade while safeguarding the integrity of our agricultural sector”

"We recognize the importance of facilitating exports and imports and are dedicated to providing exporters and importers with the necessary guidance and support to navigate regulatory processes effectively."

Dr. Audu also underscored NAQS's willingness to collaborate closely with OGFZA, offering guidance and information on export and import procedures. He highlighted that exporters are required to pay a user fee as a token for the services provided by NAQS.

Expressing appreciation for OGFZA's donation of office space to NAQS at Onne Seaport within the OGFZA complex in Port Harcourt, Dr. Audu emphasized the significance of this gesture in supporting NAQS's operations.

Mr. Bamanga Usman Jada emphasized the importance of collaboration between NAQS and OGFZA in safeguarding Nigeria's agricultural economy. He commended NAQS for its dedication to promoting trade while maintaining stringent standards, emphasizing the necessity of a harmonious relationship between the two regulatory agencies.
