NASC commends Premier Seed for two peppers registration and release... says it will reduce import expenditure

 


The Acting Director General ( DG) of National Agricultural Seeds Council ( NASC) Mr. Khalid Ishiak has hailed Premier Seeds for registering and releasing the first ever two ( 2)  pepper varieties into the Nigerian market for farmers' utilization, saying the impact would be enormous on reducing billions of Naira being expended on vegetable seeds import into the country.

FACAN calls FG to rescue exporters from Central Bank repatriation

  

The Federation of Agricultural Commodity Associations of Nigeria ( FACAN) has asked the management of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council ( NEPC) to wade into shortage being imposed on commodities' exporters who their export proceeds are subjected to official rate having procured from the open market.

Abubakar Kyari has told the Agric research council to embark on implementing its amendment Act in order to ensure more efficient transfer of improved technologies to farmers towards galvanized food system sustainability.

Niger State Attracts Over $1 Billion in Agric Mechanization and Technology

  



Niger State Governor,  Mohammed Umaru Bago announced that the state has secured more than $1 billion investment for agricultural mechanisation and  technology within the first six months of his administration. Governor Bago revealed this during a courtesy visit to the two Ministers of Agriculture and Food Security in Abuja last week Friday.

National Varietal Release Committee expresses concern on adoption


* Releases 23 varieties

As about 23 new varieties of crops including four transgenic and 8 hybrid maize were among the newly released and registered into Nigerian market, the National Varietal Release Committee ( NVRC) chaired by Prof. Olusoji Olufajo has expressed great concern on how to get these and other candidates into the hands of farmers for increased food production in the country.
