Agro Allied Cooperative commends President Tinubu fund release

The President of the National Cooperative of Agro-Allied Organizations of Nigeria (NACOON)  Prof. (Queen) Hazarat Adesumi Adeyeye has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the release of over ₦1.5 trillion to support cooperative agricultural initiatives across the country.

Speaking during a stakeholders’ forum held at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security ( FMAFS) Abuja, the NACOON President, Prof. Hazarat Adesumi Adeyeye praised the unprecedented funding as a bold step toward achieving food security, reducing rural poverty, and empowering grassroots farmers in the country.

“This release of ₦1.5 trillion is a historic investment in Nigeria’s agricultural future,” the NACOON President said. “We thank President Tinubu for his commitment to strengthening the cooperative movement and revitalizing food production through strategic support.”

She also acknowledged the pivotal roles of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the newly created National Agricultural Trust Fund, both of which are working in collaboration with NACOON and other stakeholders to ensure that the funds are channeled effectively.

“These institutions are instrumental in helping us deliver resources directly to the grassroots farmers, cooperatives, MSMEs, the real drivers of agricultural transformation,” she added.

The fund according to her will support key areas such as access to land, irrigation systems, agro-processing, storage, packaging, and market linkages. It is also expected to boost climate-smart agriculture and youth engagement through education and skill acquisition programs.
