Ibadan Animal Health College staff in faceoff with management

Federal College of  Agriculture Moore Plantation, Ibadan

The Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Ibadan witnessed another faceoff between the members of Staff and the management recently.

A reliable source said the faceoff was as a result of failure of the management to meet some demands of the staff which included the payment of staff promotion arrears for years 2015 and 2016, an issue, which they claimed, had been trivialized by the management and that it was learnt from source at the ministry in Abuja that the School management did little or nothing about the promotion arrears of staff.

Another issue was the payment of the balance of the four nights  allowance they were entitled to for conference  attendance of which some members of the staff were paid for two nights while some were paid for three nights when they were entitled to be paid for four-day workshops and conferences.

There were also cases of contracts inflation and nepotism. For example a drainage of not more than 100 meters long road within the College was said to be awarded to a close associate at nine million naira and also the construction of students lecture hall that is currently going on is just for 90 seaters capacity as against the 300 capacity that was approved and confirmed during the last visit of National Assembly committee on colleges of Agriculture led Hon. Linus Okorie. The staff claimed that the contractor was the younger brother to the provost.

Food Farm News gathered that the members of staff chased away the Provost, the Registrar and the bursar and warned them not to return to their offices until they must have found solutions to their demands calling for the rescue of the college from this mismanagement as they pointed that a graded second new Toyota Hilux was claimed to have been bought as a new brand car.

It was also gathered that many of the facilities that would have enhanced the core mandate of college were not functioning as fund that supposed to be channeled to more proactive infrastructure and practical demonstration centre have been used for construction where easy money could be made by them.

All effort to get the side of the provost story was proved abortive even as she promised to call us back which never happen even at our two calls and text message.
