The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security ( FMAFS) may have had nothing to do with any grant being circulated to farmers and other stakeholders for participations.
A form titled " Application for Agricutural Grant of N50,000k " designed with FMAFS's logo and the Minister of the ministry, Sen. Abubarka Kyari's picture cum other relevant information from any interested candidates has been in circulating on the social media.
Stakeholders have been demanding for clarification of this grant on agriculture even as the Biometric Verification Number (BVN) and National Identification Number (NIN) information are not requested in the form.
A farmer who didn't want his name mentioned said we need the clarification of the grant from the authorized ministry which is FMAFS adding his fellow colleagues should be very careful.
Food Farm News checks on the ministry revealed it may not be in the know of anything about the grant applications as being portrayed by the originator, but indicated there may be some insiders' hands in the plot.
Our findings in the ministry also revealed there was no budgetary provision for such in the year 2025 budget.
Finding revealed that the Food Ministry is not responsible for providing financial grants to farmers saying the Bank of Agriculture (BOA) is the official institution in charge of agricultural funding and loan disbursement to farmers.
There is a high probability that many farmers who had applied may have faced some challenges as they were asked to pay certain fees that were not disclosed to us before the grants can be accessed.
The farmers want authorities to wade into the matter for clarity just as our source in the ministry mentioned that some officials might have been playing an underground role in the matter adding that farmers must be careful.
The Ministry source also warned farmers and the general public to verify any grant-related information with authorized government agencies before making any financial commitments.
