A registered Non Governmental Organization ( NGO) named Rural Wealth Foundation ( RWF) has called on both local and international organizations to support environmental protection ocassioned by climate change degradation on two major rivers in Kogi state, Nigeria against food security.
The president/ Chief Executive, RWF, Mr. Ufana Y. Hussein during the last weekend said the negative impact of climate change is reducing the water levels of River Niger and Benue, saying it has led to the extinction of economic and medicinal trees with year 2024 also recording huge crops failure due to dryness of river Benue.
Hussein stressed the need for support to tree planting activities of his organization for environmental protection as most forests in those old days had been turned to deserts with most economic and medicinal trees being abruptly cut down.
Mr. Ufana Hussein called for government support to activate students' planting of trees to reclaim our organic environment against wind and rain degradation of soil against food security.
