First cocoa international conference at Abuja, Nigeria

The stage for the 1st international cocoa conference holding at Nicon Luxury, Abuja is getting set for the four days intensive brainstorming sessions for the way forward to reposition the dwindling productivity of the produce in Nigeria as many participants from the other countries of the world are already arriving for the summit.

 
Food Farm News’ visit to the event venue yesterday showed that intensive preparation for the conference was already ongoing as exhibitors were seen putting detachable structures in place for the convenient display of their products to prospective stakeholders in the value chains for patronage.

Among the people seen at the venue are National President, Cocoa Association of Nigeria (CAN) Mr. Sayina Riman, the Director of Inspectorate Director, Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI), Mrs Opelolu Opeewe with her team and other artisans putting the electronic and detachable structures in place for exhibitors against the proper event taking of tomorrow.

The conference is said to be expecting President Muhammadu Buhari as father of farmers to declare the event open together with his ministers of FMITI, Mr. Okechukwu Enelamah, state minster, Mrs. Aisha Abubakar, and Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh,but there is no clear indication whether His Excellency will be attending until tomorrow according to a source who would want his name to be disclosed.

The speakers and discussant for today’s event according to CAN president, Mr. Sayina Riman are Vice President, Head of Sustainability and chairman of cocoa Horizon Foundation, Mr. Nicko Debenham, Vice President, Cocoa Nigeria Olam International Limited, Anant Patil and chief of party, and senior technical adviser on policy and governance in the world cocoa foundation (WCF)-African Cocoa Initiative Sona Ebai, and jayson Schwart, LLM Organic Potash corporation, Toronto, Canada who have already arrived Abuja from their different destinations.
