The National Grazing Reserves Agency Bill has been passed by the senate for the first reading. The bill which is set to establish grazing reserves for cattle across the country was sponsored by a Senator from Kano Central, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso.

According to the Cable, it was read for the first time at the Senate in the early hours of Wednesday, 22nd of June. This  signals that the fruition of this bill into law is close despite widespread criticism it was greeted with at its inception.

A similar bill had scaled second reading‎ in the House of Representatives, stirring controversy and public outcry.

The bill‎ is coming at the time that there have been reports of incessant attacks by herdsmen across the country.

The killings in Nimbo, Enugu state and Agatu in Benue state‎, are some of the recent reported attacks.
