There seems to be a divide view on the performance of Raw Materials Development Council (RMRDC) under the leadership of the current Director General (DG) by stakeholders over local contents substitution for our industrial use.
A source close to the council has revealed to Food Farm News that the council had not been meeting its mandate expectations of ensuring local content raw materials as substitution to imported ones, thereby protecting the value of our currency and also achieving the renewed hope of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu on food security and economy.
The source said that the DG, RMRDC Prof. Nnanyelugo Ike- Muonso was almost sacked for non performance by the presidency if not the intervention of an Eastern governor who saved the situation. Although the authenticity of the job relieve was not properly tested.
Various allegations against the leadership of the council included staff non regular coming to work due to salary delay with back seat approach to the publishing of books on research and development projects that will positively impact on our industrial productivity with local contents raw materials.
There was also an allegation on how the quarterly allocations were being recklessly spent without consideration to workers' well-being by ensuring vehicles conveying workers to the office in effective condition.
Further findings however revealed that some workers of the council were very pleased with the DG style of administration which they scored far above average.
Some of the staff told Food Farm News that RMRDC was facing challenges peculiar to many government agencies in the country as they disagreed with an assertion that made the council looks as not performing in line with its mandate under the leadership of Prof. Nnanyelugo Ike- Muonso which was commended.
