The Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment has officially recognized Mr. Ademola Adesokan as the substantive President of the National Cashew Association of Nigeria (NCAN), reaffirming his leadership of the association.
The recognition was conveyed in a letter dated May 25, 2026, addressed to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of NCAN, Mr. Inoezindu Sony Stevenson.
In the letter, the Ministry stated that it had approved the recognition of Mr. Adesokan's election as President of NCAN, noting that the decision was based on the Consent Judgment delivered on November 9, 2019, in Suit No. FCT/HC/CV/239/2016. The judgment affirmed the validity of the NCAN Constitution of 2017, under which the current leadership emerged.
According to the Ministry, Mr. Adesokan's tenure took effect on January 20, 2026, and will run until January 19, 2029, marking the completion of his first three-year term in office.
The Ministry further urged the Board of Trustees and all stakeholders within the association to accord the new president the necessary recognition and support required for the effective discharge of his responsibilities.
"I write to convey the approval of the Ministry to recognize the election of Mr. Ademola Adesokan as the substantive President of the National Cashew Association of Nigeria (NCAN)," the letter stated.
The communication was signed by the Director of the Commodity and Export Department, Mr. Obasi Edozie Edmund, on behalf of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry in a press statement.
The development is expected to provide greater stability and strengthen leadership within NCAN as the association continues its efforts to advance Nigeria's cashew industry, promote exports, and support stakeholders across the cashew value chain.
