Let farmers speak with one voice, says AFAN president

The president of All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) Architect Kabiru Ibrahim has advocated for one voice for farmers, saying it was through this means that they can positively impact on food security in the country. Ibrahim made this known in a private chat with Food Farm News.

Responding to the issue concerning the other faction committee led by Farouk Mudi, he said he wasn’t ready to join issue on that any more, adding that importantly a pronouncement has been made by the court presided over by Justice Taiwo Taiwo in Abuja. He stressed that he would rather prefer farmers speaking with one voice in a coherent manner for benefit of the entire members.

He also lamented on poor condition of  farming in Nigeria, saying the unity of legitimate farmers through the AFAN constitution would be embraced towards the coming election slated for March 2021, and room for reconciliations would as well be given  with due respect to constitution.

Speaking with head of reconciliation team, Dr. Tunde Arosanyin who said that consultation towards united AFAN was ongoing since Justice Taiwo Taiwo’s pronouncement in the court last week has directed the Association to revert to status quo meaning that Kabiru’s leadership is still being recognised, and on the basis of this ‘’we are encouraging that the General Assembly of Farmers (GAF) meeting slated for this February, and election for March be upheld for the progress of the Association’’
