Take flood advantage to farm, says NAEALs former Director
The former Director, National Agricultural Extension And Research Liaison Services (NAERLS) Engr. (Prof) Mohammed Khalid Othman has encouraged farmers to take advantage of soil moisture from flood residuals to mass produce food crops for commercialization and food security, just as he advocated for technologies transfer to ensure skillful farming of farmers in the country.

The Rockefeller Foundation Announces Ten Grants at COP27 to Scale Indigenous and Regenerative Agriculture Practices Globally
*$11 million in grants will support strategies to end compounding crises of climate, hunger, and malnutrition through community-led changes to global food systems
During the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27), The Rockefeller Foundation announced more than US$11 million in grants to ten organizations scaling Indigenous and regenerative agriculture practices around the world. Evidence makes clear the central role food systems can play in mitigating climate change.

Action Aid decries low agric budget, punctures poor agencies allocation, women, youths
The proposed budget allocation for Agriculture in the year 2023 presently before National Assembly for approval has been analysed by Action Aid as having a low percentage of 1.11% of the total budget of N20.50 trillion, just as Agencies of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD), women and youths are poorly budgeted to commensurate their importance in food security activities. Action Aid observed this in its analysis of the year 2023 proposed agricultural budget that was made available to us.

The hope to reposition horticultural development value chains towards competitive agricultural practices for more economic earnings and job creations may seem very feasible as the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Mohammad Mahmood Abubakar has promised more support that will bring about performance and efficient research delivery of National Horticultural Research Institute (NIHORT) to the agricultural sector development in the country.
