FG, Farmers distance from 100k grant

The office of the presidency under the food security matters, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD),and the farmers’ apex body under Architect Ibrahim Kabir have dissociated themselves from the information being circulated on social media asking farmers and non-farmers to  register online for Federal Government (FG) grant of  one hundred and fifty thousand naira.

FG TO SUPPORT STATES IN NORTH EAST WITH FREE LIVESTOCK VACCINES

 


The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Mohammad Mahmood Abubakar has said that Federal Government (FG) through the Department of Veterinary and Pest Control Services will support Gombe , and other States in the north east  with two million  Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia (CBPP), Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD), Peste Des Petits Ruminants (PPR) and Newcastle Disease (ND) vaccines among others.

The Director General, National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA), Professor Abdullahi Mustapha has reiterated that traditional farming will not be able to sustain food security without the use of modern day technologies  as population keeps increasing in Nigeria.

Editorial- Agricultural subsidy without data


The issue of subsidy to agricultural inputs is as old as ages in the food production of Nigeria, both states and Federal Government (FG) had in several occasions assisted farmers especially small scale holders to boost crops and animal productions with inputs like fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides with several same being done in the livestock  without accurate data of the beneficiaries for the purpose of accountability which has made many people express doubt on the amount of money usually acclaimed to have been spent.

Democracy day: Insecurity mars FG investment in Agric


 A lecturer at the University of Benin, Professor Eddy Erhagbe has said that the billions of naira the Federal Government (FG) expended on agriculture in the last twenty-three years of democracy may have been hampered by the spate of incessant killings and attacks of rural farmers by hoodlums and bandits. Prof. Eddy Erhagbe stated this yesterday during a program ‘’ Good Morning Nigeria’’ on the National Television Authority (NTA) when responding to question on 23 years of democracy in the country.
