Buhari promises to dispose encroachers of grazing reserves, cattle routes

 


President Mohammed Buhari has vowed to restore back the original master plan of the grazing reserves and cattle routes for animal rearers as intruders into these places will be dispossessed to ensure the original plan of the first republic gazatte.

For agricultural development to be impactful in the grassroots economic activities, the need for local and states’ governments involvement in the foods productivity has been emphasised by the National coordinator, Agricultural Transformation Agenda Support Program Phase 1 (ATASP-1), Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Arabi who said the statutory revenue allocations from the Federal Government (FG) should be directly released to all the 774 local governments to achieve proactive implementation of foods value chain system for higher  productivity at the grassroots.

Ministry staff condemns N1b spent on office renovation says it’s reckless


Staff of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) have vehemently condemned the one billion naira (N1B) alleged to have been spent on the renovation of the main minister's office and conference room, saying it was reckless and unpatriotic spending especially in this austere time when many projects that would add value to food security situation of the country are pending due to lack of fund.

Farmers who had suffered farms destruction running to billions of naira occasioned by cattle searching for pastures have demanded to know the state of grass multiplication of the Federal Government (FG) upon the importation of the grass varieties by the former Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh about five years ago.

The Executive Secretary (ES) Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN) Prof. Hasimi Garba Sharubutu and a Professor of Wildlife management, faculty of agriculture, University of Benin, Prof. Gideon Emelue together agreed on the need for the new Federal Government (FG) Livestock Agricultural Agenda Programme to apply time frame for the adoption of ranching mechanism to mitigate constant conflict between the pastoralists and farmers in the country.

Association pleads Senate, Pres. Buhari to sign the bill asking for yam export


The president, National Association of Yam Farmers, Processors and Marketers, Prof. Simeon Itwange has appealed to the upper house of the National Assembly to exhibit the same level of commitment shown by  its lower house committee on commerce to pass the bill asking for the repeal of the  prohibition Act that is preventing yams and other agricultural commodities from being exported, just as he wanted President Mohammudu Buhari to assent the bill into an effective law for more market potentials to farmers.
