National Sunflower Growers, Processors and Marketers Association of Nigeria is taking practical step towards mass production of Sunflower in Kebbi State.
This was presented by the the National President of the Association, Mallam Jibrin Bukar while on a courtesy visit to the State Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources at Birnin Kebbi on Monday this week.
Bukar explained that sunflower oil has become more popular and acceptable to millions of families across the country for its healthcare potentials, saying it is natural immune booster, cancer preventive and ability to detoxicate human body systems among its various advantages.
The president stated that Kebbi state has been penciled for sunflower production experiment, saying its peculiar success record in Agricultural production with Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) anchor borrower programme in rice, just as he noted that sunflower is a commodity of immense value for both domestic and international markets.
In his response, the Commissioner Alh. Maigari Abdullahi Dakin Gari promised to support the move in the best interest of the State's quest for sustainable development through agriculture, citing monumental achievements the Bagudu led administration has recorded in the agricultural sector
The Commissioner tasks the Association to intensify on mobilization of farmers in the state for the sunflower cultivation as he promised the state support to the association.
Similarly, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Mr Joel Aiki assured that Sunflower farming is possible in the State owing to favorite climate and flexible agricultural policies in the State.
The National President was accompanied by State Chairman of the Association Muhammad Mai Kwano Koko, FACAN Secretary and VIce Chairman Kebbi Central Abubukar Bagudu Dallatun Kalgo, Muhammad Alaramma Vice Chairman Kebbi South, State Secretary Hassan Bello, Tukur Usman Yeldu Vice Chairman Kebbi north, Zayyanu Salihu Kamba, State Auditor, Mal Yazid Abubukar, Financial Secretary Hajiya Atika in Abubukar Umar and Hanan Isa among others.
Earlier in the Day, stakeholders meeting on mass Sunflower cultivation was held at Shagalinku Hotel.
