FG charges committee on improved food safety

  

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, state, Sen. Abdullah has encouraged a newly constituted committee on the standard Agricultural produce that is internationally competitive for consumption.

Sen. Abdullah said this in a statement made available yesterday by the FMAFS after constituting a new committee empowered to reposition food safety policies and implementation.

The committee according to the statement is being chaired by Mr. Lateef Olademeji who reportedly promised to meet the mandate delivery that would strengthen Agricultural quality assurance system.

Terms of Reference of the working committee include reviewing existing policies and guidelines on residues management, developing survey instrument to access pesticide residues and contaminants, identifying regulatory and institutional gaps, with recommending corrective interventions, and producing a comprehensive framework to improve residue and contaminants management in Nigeria.
