The National Deputy president of All Farmers Association of Nigeria ( AFAN), Chief Daniel Okafor has said that the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (FMAFS) will soon begin to give out agricultural inputs to small scale farmers in Nigeria, just as he solicited for a very transparent process.
Chief Daniel Okafor said this in a telephone conversation with Food Farm News yesterday with a caution of doubt towards the distribution, saying his association had already identified thousands of farmers that would benefit.
The deputy president said that " We are waiting to see what will happen. We need to know the quantities involved, the state that will benefit, and the timeline for distribution. Once the program is fully implemented and farmers receive the support, we can then appreciate government more"
"With the rainy season farming activities underway in many parts of the country, farmers are hopeful that the timely distribution of fertilizer and other essential inputs will contribute significantly to increase crop yields and improve food production nation wide"
Meanwhile the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF) had commenced the distribution of more than 128,000 bags of fertilizer to farmers as an initiative strategy of FG to boost Agricultural productivity, and improve food security.
