A veteran seller at the popular Kano rice market, Hajia Daidu Dija has applauded the unprecedented patronage of the produce by over 1, 000 buyers on a daily basis with livelihood improvements.
Also farmers in the state have expressed their readiness to embark on dry season planting using irrigation facilities to ensure rice paddy availability.
Hajia Daidu Dija speaking to Food Farm News during a visit to the Bukure rice market at Kano said that patronage to our rice has increased tremendously with improved economic impact on traders.
The elderly female rice seller, who had spent decades trading at the market disclosed that the produce witnessed an astonishing over 1,000 patronizers daily in recent times, and this has given hope to traders in terms of more income earnings.
According to her, the market's popularity stems from its reputation of offering high-quality rice at competitive prices, attracting customers from far and wide with improvements in our livelihood.
Dija added that the surge in patronage not only underscores the market's significance as a hub for rice traders but also highlights the crucial role it plays in sustaining livelihoods and stimulating local economic growth.
She however described the rice market as a shining example of resilience and entrepreneurial spirit.
In another development same in Kano, a leader of farmers, Kabir Adamu told us that preparation towards the dry season rice planting was already ongoing pointed irrigation facilities would be deplored for the production.
Adamu said that "We are fully prepared for this year's dry season farming. Our members have been mobilized, and we are confident that this season will yield a bumper harvest"
He appealed to the government 's support for farm inputs and more market access towards the success of the dry season farming.
