Drama as Agric Minister Confirms AFAN President

The Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security ( FMAFS), Sen. Abdullahi Sabi, has reaffirmed the leadership of Arch. Kabiru Ibrahim as the legitimate president of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) during a visit to a cluster farm in Bwari Area Council. The Minister's pronouncement is coming on the heels of contention over which the  faction of the FCT AFAN chairman should deliver an official message at the visit to a cluster farm at Buhari, FCT, Abuja.

Sen. Sabi quickly intervened in the drama to acknowledge the recognition of Architect Kabir Ibrahim as recognized President of AFAN with all his executives at states including FCT.

The Minister said that "The leadership of AFAN known to the government is the faction of Arch. Kabir Ibrahim", and the pronouncement stopped the drama that would have ensued as the FCT chairperson, Mrs Okafor was immediately allowed to deliver her speech on the occasion as part of celebration to World Food Day.

The event was almost disrupted when a member of the rival faction contended over who to deliver the chairman' speech until the Minister intervention paved the way for Mrs. Okafor as FCT chairperson.

Mr. Theodore Danladi, the youth leader of the El’Rufai Estate farm, commended the Minister's intervention saying the FCT chairperson under Architect Ibrahim leadership has really assisted the farmers in the farming estate saying she's the only one being recognized as FCT chairperson. Danladi confirmed Mrs. Perpetual Okafor as the FCT AFAN chairperson they have been working with, crediting her with supporting their farming efforts through training and providing necessary inputs.

He dismissed the disruption saying it was typical behavior peculiar of this faction thereby urging everyone to focus on progress rather than conflict.

In the same vein, Arch Kabiru Ibrahim has announced November 24-29 as the days for the 16th Annual Celebration of Agric Show for year 2024 in Nigeria.
