Osun buys no tractor in the last 12 years

Adegboyega Oyetola

Farmers in the state of Osun have accused the government of buying no single tractor for the mechanization development of agriculture in the last twelve years, saying this has perpetually left them with crude ways of practicing uncompetitive farming for food security.

A source who bitterly complained to Food Farm News said no government in the last twelve years of Osun state administration has given agriculture a mechanized priority by buying just a single tractor to assist farmers in the state for land preparation to enhancing higher food production.

He lamented that the state has not properly harnessed its potential in agriculture to create job and wealth to her citizens, saying that agriculture that supposed to be the state’s priority has been taken secondary without new tractors in the last 12 years.
