Oyo state young farmers hails government, asks for more support

 

The Oyo State young Agroprenuer (OYAP) has commended the support of both the State and Federal Governments towards the actualization of its mission and vision within one year.





The leader of the group, Miss Tubi Ibukunoluwa and her assistant, Mr. Daniel Nwangwu both told Food Farm News that the support being given by government to them through their agencies worth mentioning towards making agricbusiness a hub of commercial engagement in all aspects of Agriculture in the country.

Ibukunoluwa said that the last one year of the group has been very eventful through agricultural trainings being given our Government Research institutes, ministries and other international agencies cum government financial institutions, saying they have been impactful and very supportive.

She wants the tempo of the relationship to be heightened especially in Oyo state through the office of the Executive Adviser to the Governor of Oyo state on Agriculture, Dr. Debo Akande and others so as to encourage more youths into taking business careers in any value chain subsector of food productivity.

She added in the last one that OYAP has partnered with National Horticultural Research Institute, ( NIHORT) and others to empower its members towards government vision of commercial Agriculture to diversity the economy through youths engagement.

" While we appreciate Government institutes and private individuals and organizations that have positively impacted on us, we will also want to create for more support in order to be able to attract more youths in agricbusiness in Oyo state and other States of the federation" said the coordinator.

Mr. Daniel Nwangwu who also aligned with his coordinator stressed that the youths are now ready to take up the opportunity in Agriculture, saying this was what OYAP has exhibited in just one year of its launch.

Nwangwu pointed a quite numbers of the group that have benefitted in the trainings and loans being made available to OYAP as five days training on farmer's business in partnership with GIZ, a German based Organization worth mentioning as great achievement.

The one year anniversary ocassion held yesterday at National Cereal Research Institute, Ibadan station had dignitaries from both Government, private and individual in attendance.
