The National Council Meeting on Agricultural originally slated to hold in Abuja between 16th and 18 of December 2020 for policy implementation has been cancelled by the Federal Government. This was publicly announced by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) Dr. Abdulkarid Muasu.
The last meeting was held in Umuahia, Abia state where the venue for 2020 meeting was fixed to Plateau state until the venue was changed to Abuja even as many stakeholders have disagreed with the holding of the event based on its timing that they described as not strategic to meeting agricultural policy implementation for the outgoing year.
The announcement read thus " This is to inform the Honourable Commissioners of Agriculture, stakeholders and general public that the 44th meeting of National Council on Agriculture and Rural Development slated to hold on Wednesday 16 and Friday 18 December has been postponed due to Covid-19 cases across the Federation.
A new date will be communicated in due course. We regret any inconveniences the postponement must have caused" Announcer, PS FMARD
