O-MEALS scheme.
A delegation of the Federal Government’s Home Grown School Feeding (HGSF) programme, an initiative which aims at feeding over 24 million school children nationwide, visited the State of Osun to understudy the success recorded by the state’s Elementary School Feeding and Health Programme, popularly called the O-MEALS scheme.

During the 3-day learning visit, the team, which included delegates from 7 states; Enugu, Lagos, Ogun, Kaduna, Oyo, Kwara and Borno, was led by the National Programme Manager of the Federal Government’s Home Grown School Feeding Program, Mrs Bimbo Adesanmi. This availed them the opportunity to visit the State Governor, local farmers, caterers, school pupils who are beneficiaries of the programme, and other stakeholders involved in the programme.

The delegation, while on a visit to the Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, at the State Secretariat in Abere expressed delight at the level of organization and success of the Osun O-MEALS programme.

Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, in his address, said the state government was proud of the opportunity to play host to such a high level delegation, and that he hoped whatever lessons they had learnt while in the state would be of massive help in ensuring the success of such programme in their respective states.

He also used the avenue to call on private investors to partner with the state to expand the programme, thereby accommodating more pupils within the O’MEALS scheme.
