Milk Day - ACAN president wants Govt to encourage private sector

 



As the world plans to celebrate the 2023 World Milk Day, the President, Agricultural Correspondents of Nigeria (ACAN) Mr. John Oba has advised the Federal Government (FG) to embark on private sector motivation into surplus milk production towards sustainable productivity for human consumption.

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) has been pinned responsible for the wastages of N5.5 billion being an approval by former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GEJ) for procurement of tractors and other simple equipment under the private sector proposal initiative presented to him by the ministry.

A former director, National Export Promotion Council ( NEPC) Chief Williams Ezeagu has advanced that commodity Associations should be well supported to be strong enough to ensure standard certification of all agricultural produce in Nigeria.

Senate Committee on Public Account headed by Sen. Mathew Uhroghide has ordered Bank of Agriculture (BOA) to return the sum of N3.2 billions meant for tractors and other equipment procurement  in 2015 by ten (10) vendors.

FG makes NCAM acting ED substantive

 

The Federal Government (FG) through the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development  has appointed Engr. (Dr) Kamal Abdulgafar Rasheed as the new substantive Executive Director (ED)/ Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization (NCAM),  Ilorin, Kwara state.
