Easter celebration: FG gives out 40TMT foods to IDPs


In obedience to President Mohammadu Buhari's directives to cushion high prices of foods to Nigerians, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) has commenced 40,000 metric tons of foods distribution to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the country starting with the Federal Territory, Abuja.

Sesame seeds yet to list in the anchor program

Despite the high demand for Nigerian sesame seeds across the globe, with a current global market of roughly $500m, currently generation over $700million annually with the production rate of Nigeria between 450-500 metric tons, the crop is yet to be enlisted on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Anchor Borrowers Program (APB), according to the National President, Sesame Seeds Association, Alhaji Sheriff Balogun.

GMO, a panacea not to sleep on empty stomach, says NABDA DG


 The application of Genetically Modified Crops (GMOs) technology into our food security programme has a solution to avert people from going to sleep without food in their stomachs, said the DG/CEO National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA), Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha. Prof. Mustapha stated this at a GMO food largess hosted by Open Forum for Agricultural Biotechnology (OFAB) as guests were treated to delicacies made from bt cowpea beans.

Sacked AFAN executives appeal against High Court order


The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) executives led by Architect Kabir Ibrahim have approached the Abuja Court of Appeal to set aside the judgement that sacked them from office, saying the Federal High Court has no jurisdiction on internal matters that relate to civil society organizations like AFAN.
