In obedience to President Mohammadu Buhari's directives to cushion high prices of foods to Nigerians, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) has commenced 40,000 metric tons of foods distribution to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the country starting with the Federal Territory, Abuja.
This was said in a statement made available by the chief information officer, Mr. Ezeaja Ikemefuna, on behalf of the ministry last week Thursday.
The Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Mohammad Mahmood Abubakar in the press release said that the food flagged off to the IDPs, vulnerable people women inclusive across the nation would cushion effect of high prices and made food available to the poor during the Easter festive period.
At Karmajigi village in FCT, where the food distributions started, the statement had the leader of the IDP, Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha, presentatives of the Federal of Muslins Women Association of Nigeria and Catholic Women Organizations of Nigeria thanked President Buhari for his benevolence to the less privileged in the country.
