The Agric Minister, State, Sen. Sabi Abdullahi has joined his voice to those calling for the Bank of Agriculture ( BOA) re-capitalization towards better financing of farmers and other stakeholders to achieve food security.
The Minister made this known in a press statement published on the official Facebook page of the ministry when he received the Emir of Borgu, Barr. Mohammed Sani Haliru and his entourage in his office at Abuja.
The statement attributed to Abdullahi said the government would reform BOA to better serve Nigerians towards food security.
Abdullahi said " We are reforming Bank of Agriculture to serve Nigerians. We are re-capitalizing BOA to make food accessible and affordable to Nigerians"
This statement however is coming at a time when many stakeholders were complaining about why the government should prefer spending on the National Agricultural Development Fund ( NADF) through budget provision in year 2025 over the BOA capitalization that had been pending over the years.
It will be recalled that stakeholders have been calling for the BOA re-capitalization for better usage by farmers saying budgeting money for NADF under the direct nose of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security looked absurd moreso that the details of how the budget on the Agency will be spent were not clearly stated.
The press statement expressed the gratitude of the Minister to the visiting Emir for his prayers, wishing him success in his role.
Abdullahi further assured that efforts were underway to intensify the development of various cluster farms in Borgu Kingdom.
