AFAN unveils 2025 Agricultural Policy Plan




The All Farmers Association of Nigeria ( AFAN), Federal Capital Territory ( FCT) has presented a working-in-progress action plan to ensure food security for the running year.

This was disclosed last week on Tuesday at Abuja, where the chairperson of the chapter is Mrs. Perpetual Okafor. unveiled the action plan that targeted uplifting over 600 farmers through input distribution as she emphasized all the year-round farming activities with sustainable support from the government.

Mrs. Okafor pointed out that FCT AFAN chapter is already in the process of developing its own 2025 agricultural policy that she believed would provide a solid foundation for Agricultural growth in the country with farmers having access to needed resources and best agronomics training.

The event witnessed the distribution of organic fertilizers, chemicals, maize, okra, pepper, watermelon, and other crop seeds from reputable companies.

Okafor said " With the right inputs, farmers can play pivotal roles in the nation's building towards food security"

Speaking at the event, the AFAN president, Architect Kabiru Ibrahim reiterated the need for support to farmers by all levels of government and development partners saying doing this would make President Tinubu's dream for sustainable food productivity come to pass.

Ibrahim said "We must come together to ensure our farmers have the tools and resources they need to succeed"

Mrs. Jumoke Ajayi, the Kuja Area Coordinator, also voiced her support for the initiative, praising AFAN for its efforts and calling on FG's intervention to provide farmers with essential inputs for sustainable food production.

Also, Professor Tasie from Michigan University commended FCT AFAN for its groundbreaking efforts saying that the development of a dedicated agricultural policy for the FCT has marked a historic milestone.

Prof. Raise said “ This policy is a game-changer for FCT farmers and positions the region as a hub of agricultural innovation and success"
