Collaboration with IAR makes grape seeds available, says President

 


National President Grapes Producers, Processors and Marketers Association of Nigeria, Alhaji Abdullahi Dalhatu has said that his association is seeds sufficient with eight varieties available through the collaborative relationship with the Institute of Agriculture Research (IAR) Zaria.

 Dalhatu said this in his Zaria farm to Foodfarmnews correspondent who visited the place.



Responding to grapes seed availability for plantation, Alhaji Dalhatu said the partnership with IAR has been very helpful in the seeds sufficiency for production adding that "  over 100,000 Grapes seedlings of 8 different varieties are available through partnership effort with IAR on seeds and pest management control "

He said in order to meet with the current high demand for grapes,  the association has gone into the mass production of quality seeds that would meet the demands  saying that “ the association is already planting 8 different varieties of grape seedlings including ( Red Globe Variety, Crimson Seedlings, Muscat Alexandria, Black Hamburge, Lady Finger, Autumn King, Sweet Sapphire and Thumson Seedless "
