FG trains about retirees agribusiness


The Federal Government (FG) through its Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) has trained about 27 of his staff who are about to retire an agricbusiness they can fall back as personal business.


The training which was third in series was meant to prepare the staff of the FMARD that are about to retire an economic alternative to a better earning legitimately.


The training took place last week in Abuja, and each of the participant is expected to be given a starter pack after three days intensive training in poultry, potatoes, vegetables and snail productions as an enterprise business owners.

Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Mohammad Abubakar represented by Surajo S Usman on the occasion asked the participants to harness the opportunity in the training as alternative means of generating income when finally retired from government services. 


The event convener, and chief administrative officer of FMARD,  Mrs. Onyeka Eilliams Hindetu  told food Farm News that the entrepreneurship skill is to ensure that staff of the ministry get engaged in agriculture business after service, adding starter pack would be given to 27 of them after the training to begin business in poultry, potatoes, vegetables and snail productions.

She disclosed that the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Earnest Afolabi would be presenting 27 of them with a started pack to start business on Friday, August 26th, 2022 in the four areas of agricultural produce that the training has captured.


One of the participants who spoke with us, Mr. Steven Bajide, a deputy director, ICT FMARD said there would be more time to agric business after retirement as he commended the government's initiative for providing business opportunities for retiring staff to fall back.


Another participants Mrs. Benson also hailed the Government for her positive thinking towards workers' better future living after retirement.  


The  trainer of the poultry session, Mr. Igwe Amachi told participants to take the knowledge acquired at the training very serious, saying that is what would be their saviour after retirement from service.
