Press Release: AFAN executives Vs Faruk Rabiu led Committee for court hearing tomorrow.

I write to remind you that tomorrow the 15th of March, 2021 is the date the Judge set for the definite hearing in the suit between Arc Kabir Ibrahim and the elected National Executives of All Farmers' Association of Nigeria ( AFAN) and the 36 states and FCT AND Faruk Rabi’u Mudi and Co. as the purported Caretaker Committee of AFAN.

                       

The relief being sought by Faruk & Co. is for the court to stop us from discharging our responsibilities as elected officials and recognize them as the appointed Caretaker Committee.

 

1.The AFAN constitution does not have a provision for setting up of a Caretaker Committee.

2.The suit against Arc Kabir Ibrahim and the Electected Executives lacks merit because the constitution spells out the Board of Trustees as the justiciable entity which can sue and be sued on behalf of AFAN.

3. Faruk & Co. sought to amend their suit but we filed a counter against that.

4. Rtd. Rear Admiral Nyako( AFAN BOT Chair) alone cannot under the law and AFAN constitution unilaterally annul our election and set up a Caretaker Committee.

We expect the Judge to throw out their suit on grounds 1-4 above.

                        

While we are confident that justice will prevail I implore all of you to remain resolute and stoic in the face of this inequity being perpetrated by the detractors of AFAN.

The fight to restore the dignity of AFAN deserves the resolve of all 

farmer-Associations in Nigeria and I urge you to come out enmasse to protect that.
