The business relationship between
the National Animals Production Research Institute (NAPRI) with Federal
Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI) today has
deepened
as the Minister of State, Mrs. Aisha Abubakar met with the team
and demanded a proposal that would hasten business partnership towards a modern farm model for
animals and other livestock productivity using standard methods
for local consumption and export.
Mrs Abubakar said there is need for committee interface with the ministry
so has to hasten the proposal process for proactive action from the ministry
adding that the concept of the livestock business team
comprising both the private and public sectors led by the Executive Director, NAPRI, Prof. C.A. Lapkini
was very exciting and capable of checking the insecurity challenges in the
country.
She said that “ I have found your concept very interesting towards
achieving economic diversification of the present administration and to check
security challenges. Come up with a proposal in connection with Mrs. Ope Ewe
for immediate action”
Speaking,
Prof. Lapkini had taken the Minister
through its Institute’s mandate and the other key stakeholders involved in the
business team saying all modern ways of animals’ productivity would be deployed
in training an organized youths and women farmers to production of fresh milk
and meat for established private companies as off takers. He however wanted the
minister to visit the Institute to see the facilities that were on ground and
the ones that needed to be resuscitated through partnership.
The CEO, Fodder Green Technologies, Mr. Edward Uba stressed that the
business build up was aimed at achieving an organized standard market for
livestock products of fresh milk and meat from local producers using modern technologies
through training towards ensuring off takers like WAMCO, Arla, UAC etc, adding
that the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, one of the partners had suggested
the inclusion of the FMITI in the buildup for better success of the concept.
