After three years of academic interruption and state of anarchy at the Federal College of Agriculture (FCA), Moorplantation, Ibadan, peace seems to have been restored back through the intervention of Elders forum of the Institute for Agricultural Research& Training (IAR&T) Community and Grassroot Supporters for Right Advocacy and Credible Leadership.

In the 11 points Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) made available to Food Farm News, it was stated that “as a result of the intervention of the Elder forum of I.A.R.&T Community and Grassroots Supporters for Rights Advocacy and Credible Leadership, in bringing lasting peace to the imbroglio between workers of FCA and the management, the following are expected to facilitate peace and smooth running of the college”
1.      No member of the staff should be victimized based on his or her roles during the last crisis
2.      The MOU signed by the representative of the FMARD, the provost of FCA and joint action committee (ASSUP, SSATUHRAI and NASU) on the 10th of November, 2017 should be fully implemented by all stakeholders.
3.      That all outstanding promotion and conversion/ re-grading should be immediately done for staffs-who had been unjustly denied in the past.
4.      Placing members of NASU on clerical cadre for one year after conversion/ re-grading is no longer acceptable.
5.      All stakeholders (NASU, SSATHURAI and ASUP) in the college should be involved in the welfare committee and othercommittee that are directly relevant to staff.
6.      Provision of conductive offices for all members of staff.
7.      FCA Ibadan is a practical-oriented institution and all workers especially the technologist should be appropriately mobilized to effectively teach practical on the field.
8.      Resuscitating the part-time programme from the collapse it is experience now.
9.      Appointing and inclusion of Director of laboratory services in the management team of FCA, Ibadan.
10.  The position of the Deputy Provost should be filled up as clearly spelt out in the organogram of the college.
11.  All committees, units and departments should be assessed and evaluated periodically.
However, a reliable source told us that peace has since been restored back since the MOU was initiated for signing and some of the agreements are already been complied with by the management.
