Most people are just unnecessarily agitated for what supposes to be pure responsibility of plants/animals breeder scientists.
Nigeria like every other nations of the world has procedure for improved seeds registration with a National Committee on Naming, Registration and Release of any improved crops/Livestock varieties at NACRAB in Ibadan where all the unbiased scrutiny are given to any release based on all the research findings during " On the farms trails" which is an interface among stakeholders i.e scientists, farmers who are the off takers and National Seeds Council (NASC).

I have been privileged on two, three occasions to witness such moments NACRAB where extrusive questionings are been asked to ensure all scientific justifications for commercialization of any newly released variety which must still be subjected to NASC compliance to tighten any loss end. Here all the necessary traits and distinguishable characters superiority of the technology over others are well spelt out without sentiment. With this i have no doubt that the same would be followed with any GMO products before their official release. Like the DG of BIOTECT .Lucy Ogbadu said that the mandate of her Agency was to ensure compliance to the rules and regulations of any genetically modified products with the core interest of the nation towards ensuring food security as the law to ensure this is already in place. Me feel that scientists should be allowed to do their jobs without raising dust where there is none.
