12,000 farmers get fertilizers, maize seedlings

About 12,000 farmers in Adamawa have benefitted from free fertilizers and improved maize seedlings.

The fertilizers and maize seedlings were distributed by the senator representing Adamawa Central Senatorial District, Senator Abdul-Azeez Nyako as a way to assist farmers and also to complement the government’s effort in boosting agriculture.

Nyako urged the 12,000 beneficiaries to utilize them for the purpose intended, in view of the present administration’s commitment to diversify the economy through agriculture.

He also noted that agriculture is the mainstay of the nation’s economy, adding that all hands must be on deck to mobilize and support the public, particularly the youth, to embrace it for gainful employment.
Dr. Joseph Jaryum, agriculture consultant, promised to provide needed advice to farmers on utilizing the improved seedlings.

He said if properly utilized, the improved seedlings have the capacity to see them out of poverty.
One of the farmers, Malam Sulaiman Adamu, lauded Nyako for his contribution towards improving the agricultural sector in the state,
