Our attention has been drawn to an online publication by the Punch Newspaper alleging that the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has come under fire on social media following a leaked memo conveying the approval of N30m for the construction of a Friday mosque with taxpayers’ fund.

 The researchers, scientists, farmers, technocrats, extension officials and other inputs providers that converged at the annual 2021 Cropping and Research Extension Farmers Inputs Linkage System (REFILs) have unanimously advocated that Government must as a matter of urgency take funding of research for agricultural development very serious in order to achieve sustainable food system towards commercialization of Agriculture as a business. They also frowned at fertilizers’ abuse on soil, saying it can be destructive to food production.

The Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi (FUAM) Benue state has recently honoured Dr. Usman Hassan Argungun as the best overall PhD student in the college of Agronomy, plant breeding and seed science department, with speciality in Plant Breeding and Genetics for the 2014/2015 Academic Session.
