FUAM decorates former RMRDC Director as best 2014/15 PhD student


The Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi (FUAM) Benue state has recently honoured Dr. Usman Hassan Argungun as the best overall PhD student in the college of Agronomy, plant breeding and seed science department, with speciality in Plant Breeding and Genetics for the 2014/2015 Academic Session.

Dr. Argungun was given this honour at the 23rd convocation that combined 2014/2015/2016/2017 graduating set at the University premises last Saturday based on excellent performance in academics.

Dr. Argungun was a former director at the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) with indelible mark in promoting improved seed varieties ( gum arabic, kenaf, castor and sesame) for economic commercialization in the country.  

He was a lectural at the former Sokoto State Polytechnic Birnin Kebbi before moving over to Sokoto Rima River Basin Authority at the famous Bakalori Irrigation Project Talata Mafara as Head of Agriculture then to the Directorate of Foods, Roads and Rural Infrastructure DFRRI.
