Expert disagrees with FAO, says Nigeria needs mechanization, not palliatives

An agricultural expert, Engineer Olagbaju Akeju has described as a wrong step the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)’s culture of concentrating only on giving inputs to farmers rather than helping with mechanization of the sector towards commercialization and upgrading of subsistence to medium and large scale farmers.

AFAN boss raises alarm on food supply situation

The National President, All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Arc Kabir Ibrahim, has raised the alarm on the food supply situation in the country calling on the federal government to take proactive actions to mitigate the impending disaster. Buhari insists on competitive food importation

President Mohammadu Buhari has directed food importers to use their money, directing the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) not to give any official exchange rate to anybody at the expense of local production. Ruga settlement: Governor asks EFCC to investigate, reject water resources bill

 

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has demanded that Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) money allocated for rugga settlement contracts be investigated by Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), since many of the sites allocated were not allowed to take off.
