The U.S. Agency for
International Development is offering prize money for ways to combat
the fall armyworm, a crop-eating pest that has spread across sub-Saharan
Africa.

Development (FMARD) Dr. Bukar Hassan has debunked the 400 million naira making
the round as being shared among the government officials, saying it was a rumor
and the new date for the event is now May 8th, 2018.

Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari has established
a National Food Security Council to address challenges in the country's
food and agriculture sectors. Food security is a huge problem in
Nigeria. It ranks 84th out of 119 countries on the 2017 Global Hunger Index, coming in just below the Republic of Congo.

Introduction
The story of crops and livestock production in the last
decade will not be completed without making reference to Federal Government
(FG)-World Banking Assisted Fadama Project I, II, and III which has now been
extended to Additional Financing (AF) which is tailored to the present administration’s
economic diversification of eco-system agribusiness commercialization to
empower and create wealth to rural dwellers.
